Quick recipes to make with semolina (Rava)

 

Semolina Dessert:

Semolina halva is liked by everyone and can be prepared too easily and instantly. This semolina halva is a mouth drooling, delicious and very tasty So whenever you crave for something sweet or some guests arrive at home then prepare this semolina halva instantly. Making this halva at home is really easy, so enjoy this sweet and easy recipe.




 

Ingredients:

Semolina

Ghee

Water

Sugar

Dry fruits

Cardamom powder

 

Instructions:

Start with roasting the semolina for making the halva. Heat a pan and add some ghee to it. Keep some for later use. Allow the ghee to melt. Add semolina to it. Thickly textured semolina remains good for making the halva.

 Stir constantly and roast the semolina until it gets golden brown in colour. Keep the flame medium. Semolina has turned golden brown and turned fragrant. Semolina is roasted well, now we will add water to it.

We have taken 1/2 cup semolina so we will add 1.5 cups of water, followed by 1/2 cup of sugar. Cook the semolina for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame so that it puffs up.

 In the meanwhile cut the dry fruits. We have taken 8 to 10 cashews and almonds, each, chop them finely. Also we have 4 green cardamoms, peel and make powder. Semolina has puffed up, stir it up nicely. Now add some dry fruits to it.

Keep some cashews and almonds for later use. Also add 1 tbsp raisins, cardamom powder and mix everything really well. Cook the halva a little more until it gets dense. Halva has turned dense in consistency and is now ready.

 Transfer it to a plate and turn off the flame. Garnish with some dry fruits. Pour another 2 tsp of ghee over the halva. Ghee floating on the surface of halva tastes super. Mouth drooling and tasty semolina halva is ready. Try making this recipe at your home and share your experiences

 

Note:

 Keep the flame medium while roasting the semolina. Stir the semolina constantly while roasting it. You will be able to make perfect halva.

 

 

Semolina dosa:

Semolina is also known as sooji/ semolina , so we will make Semolina dosa, You can make it early in the morning or in the evening  whenever you feel hungry, you can make it instantly. You need to mix the semolina with a little curd and spices and make batter and the dosas will be prepared in an instant. These are really Tempting dosas, these are very crispy, these are very easy to make at home, and enjoy this tasty recipe.




 

Ingredients:

Semolina

Curd

Wheat flour

Ginger paste

Chopped green chilli

Salt

Cumin seeds

Water

Oil

 

Instructions:

Let’s start with preparing the Semolina dosa, To make Semolina dosa , first of all we prepare the batter.

 For batter we have taken 1 cup (180 gms) fine semolina in this bowl, If you don’t have fine semolina and you have taken the thick semolina.

Then add 2 to 3 tbsp refined flour or wheat flour to it, add ½ cup whisked curd to the semolina, the curd is previously whisked, add ½ tsp ginger paste, 1 or 2 finely chopped green chili or according to your taste.

Add ¾ tsp salt, or as per taste, ½ tsp cumin seeds and 1 tbsp green coriander finely chopped Mix all ingredients well, add water in little quantity to make the batter, Don’t make the batter too thick or too dense, make it same consistency as you usually make the dosa batter from dal, Batter is ready.

It is of a pouring consistency, we have used one cup water in it, Keep the batter aside for 10 to 15 minutes, so that the semolina puffs up, after that if the batter seems dense then add more water.

After 10 minutes are over, batter is ready its consistency seems dense, add 2 tbsp water to it, Batter is ready, to make the dosas.

Heat a pan, pour a little oil over the pan, and spread it on all sides pan is hot, you can feel the heat on your palms.

For making the dosas we need to cool the pan a little, reduce the flame to minimum, and wait a little for the pan to cool down.

Do not spread the dosa on very hot pan, Remove the extra oil from the pan, so wipe it, Pour 2 to 3 tbsp batter on the pan, and spread it thinly in circular motion,

Increase the flame, spread a little oil on all sides of the dosa and a little on top of it, Roast well till the dosa is golden brown from beneath.

Dosa is golden brown and roasted from beneath, Take it out,  You can flip and roast the dosa if desired, Since it is very thin dosa, it is roasted on the top too, Take out the dosa and place it on a plate.

 Keep the flame minimum, because we need to cool the pan again, You can sprinkle a little water on the pan to cool it instantly, and wipe the pan with a wet cloth, because we need cool pan for making dosa.

 If you make dosa on hot pan it will not spread well, We have made plain semolina dosa, if desired you can make potato filling and fill it, and make Masala semolina dosa too, Semolina dosa are ready.

You can prepare 4 dosa with this quantity of batter, Semolina dosa are ready. If the dosa is made on bigger hob then it becomes really easy, Use a non stick pan and a big hob, turn of the flame.

wipe the pan and spread the dosa well, and increase the flame later, and roast the dosa, Sumptuous dosas will be ready.

 Serve Semolina dosa with Peanut chutney, green coriander chutney, or any chutney of your choice, Try making this recipe at your home and share your experiences.

Semolina veg Toast:

Semolina toast is prepared very easily and quickly. You can make it for breakfast or for kids lunch box, or snacks in the evening.




 

Ingredients:

Semolina

Curd

Chopped green chilly

Chopped tomatoes

Finely chopped ginger

Salt

Chopped capsicum

Coriander

Ghee

 

Instructions:

Let’s start with making Semolina toast, For making semolina toast first of all prepare a batter with semolina, curd and veggies.

Take 1/2  cup Semolina in a big bowl, and 1/ 2 cup curd in it. Mix till all of it mixes well. Curd and semolina is now mixed well.

Add 1 finely chopped green chili. We have removed the seeds from it so that it becomes less spicy. Take less than 1/2 inch of ginger finely chopped. add it and add 1/2 tsp salt.

Add 2 tbsp finely chopped tomatoes, 2 tbsp finely chopped capsicum, 2 tsp green coriander, Mix all the ingredients well. Keep it for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes are over, the batter is ready, We have taken 6 slices of bread, We have taken white bread you can also take brown bread.

Put 1 to 2 spoons of batter over the bread, and spread it over the bread. Now you have to roast them.

Put the girdle on flame to heat for roasting. And put a little ghee on the girdle, Spread the ghee over the griddle and grease it and let the girdle heat.

Griddle is hot now. Heat the griddle to medium heat and keep the flame medium low. Put the bread on the griddle to roast. The side with the paste should be downward.

Let the bread roast slowly. Make the toast is moving, then it will be evenly roasted from below. Check the flame. And check the toast by flipping so that it doesn’t burn.

Meanwhile spread the batter over the other slices as well. Flip the bread and roast them till golden brown on both sides. Spread a little ghee on the other side.

If desired you can make it without ghee as well. Flip them. and let it roast till golden brown on the other side. Keep the flame low medium. After Bread is golden brown from both the sides nicely.

Take it out from the griddle. Likewise prepare all the semolina toasts. Semolina toast is roasted and ready. Take them out.

It takes 6 to 7 minutes to roast the Semolina toast at once. To serve Semolina toast, cut and serve them. You can cut it in half if desired or cut in half vertically.

Scrumptious Semolina toast is ready, and it is very easy to make it. You can serve semolina toast with green coriander chutney, tomato sauce or with any chutney of your choice.

Semolina Dhokala:

Today we will make semolina dhokla or suzi dhokla. Whenever you feel to eat fried snacks or want to have something light in breakfast then you can have semolina dhokla.




 

Ingredients:

Semolina

Curd

Green coriander

Lemon syrup

Ginger paste

Green chilly

Salt

Turmeric powder

Oil

Mustard seeds

Sesame seeds

 

Instructions:

Lets start with the procedure of making Semolina dhokla. Firstly we will make paste for making dhokla Add semolina  and curd in a big bowl and mix them well so that no lumps remains.

Add lemon syrup, ginger, green chilly, turmeric powder, salt. Add little green coriander. Now add 1 tbsp oil in the mixture.

As paste is thick so now add water in it. We have added ¼ cup of water. The consistency of the mixture should be thick like the consistency of pakora batter.

Now keep the batter aside for 20 minutes so that semolina gets puffy. Now we will make dhokla.

For this take a utensil in which we can place a plate easily or use utensil for making dhokala. Place a stand in the pan .

Now add 2.5-3 cup of water in the pan and let it boil. Meanwhile we prepare the mixture for dhokla in thali.

Grease the thali with 1 tsp of oil. Add eno salt in the end and mix it well. Now the mixture has become puffy, pour it on thali. Water has boiled now; place the thali containing mixture in the pan.

Cook it for 18-20 minutes. to check insert a knife and   it should come  out clean. Dhokla is now ready turn off the gas now.

Dhokla is has cooled down; now take it out from the  thali Take it out with the help of knife nicely and properly. Place another thali on it and flip it.

Now you can it in pieces of your preference. now we will make tadka. preheat pan and add 2 tbsp oil into it.

when oil gets hot add rei,sesame seeds and green chilly. tadka is ready; now pour it the dhokala. garnish with some green coriander leaves. spongy semolina dhokala is ready.
